Next time you are under or tree or find yourself punching out from an invariable situation, grab your favorite hybrid (preferable a 24 degree – 4 hybrid or higher). They make for wonderful utility clubs and are a lot easier to hit then a punched 5 iron.
- Choke down on the club about 1 to 3 inches depending on the height of your desired shot. The more you choke down the shorter and lower the ball will fly.
- Set up with the ball 1 to 2 inches back in your stance or closer to the foot farthest from your target. The farther back you move the ball, the lower it will fly.
- Place 60% of your weight on your forward foot or foot closest to your target.
- Swing with more arms than wrists (preferable a half to ¾ quarter swing). Stiffer arms will keep the direction of your ball fight low and straight.
